                                                Stay in Touch with Friends (1979)<br>
                                                Get Organized (1980, 1982, 1987...)<br>
                                                Develop a Political Consciousness (1986) - Check<br>
                                                One Day at a Time (1992) - Lasted three days<br>
                                                Send a Bag of Dicks to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge (2016)<br>
                                                Get Back in Shape (every year)<br>
                                                Eat Less Bacon (never)<br>
                                                </p>

                                                A lot of people resolve to “Enjoy Life” but I could not enjoy life more.  I sing, I write, I travel, I make people laugh -- I do what I was made to do.  I work hard for the money, and so does everyone I know.  I have two fantastic sons, grown to manhood and making the world their own.
                                                </p>
                                                <p>                                                                                               
                                                I have a beautiful wife, a brilliant co-writer, a wise counselor, a hilarious traveling companion, and they’re all the same person.  It’s providence, I think, that the State of the Union address is just a few days away from Melanie’s and my wedding anniversary. “The state of our union is strong,” says the president every year.

                                                Happy New Year to all.  Now, save money, quit smoking, be a better listener and enjoy life.

                                                I'm calling the election year tour "This Machine," a reference to Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger to be sure, but also an acknowledgement that songwriting does good work in the world.  Sometimes I think satire is the most hopeful and heartfelt form of expression, because in calling out the world's absurdities and laughing in their face, I'm affirming the real possibility of change.  Plus, you get to call Donald Trump a “big orange harangue-utan.”
                                                </p>

                                                Melanie and I won’t be hitting all fifty states - apologies to North Dakota - but one campaign promise we will make is to write a new song every week.  Throughout the primary season right up to the general election, watch this space and YouTube and Huffpo for new original songs, setting the idiocies au courant to meter and rhyme.
