I know some will be put off by my choice of subject line, but I make no apology this time.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='color:#1F497D'>For those who are not aware, convicted pedophile Steven Sitler (accepted a plea agreement on one count but confessed to sexually abusing many -- including <b>very</b> young -- victims in several states) married several years ago and has just had his first child – a son. In perhaps the dumbest move ever, Sitler decided he wanted the terms of his lifetime probation loosened up and hired counsel to achieve that goal, and so-called “experts” submitted positively glowing reports in support of what a swell guy Sitler is. One “expert” determined Sitler to be “exceptionally honest,” and another reported that Sitler “</span><span style='color:#1F497D'>reported that he no longer has sexual desires for children. He does not actively fantasize about sexual acts with children.” If they are capable of embarrassment, they should be deeply embarrassed now by being so very wrong and putting a newborn at risk.</span><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>Probation required Sitler to take a polygraph prior to his baby’s birth, which he apparently passed . . . after failing <b>two</b> polygraphs in December, IIRC. I remain unclear how Sitler was allowed to be in the home once the baby came, but if I understood correctly, as a part of the review of the terms of his probation, Sitler was required to take another polygraph at some point after the baby’s birth, and that’s when things started going south in a <b>big way</b>. Many of the records are sealed, but I believe Sitler has failed at least three polygraphs in the short time since the birth of his son. Yikes.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>More disturbingly, Sitler has apparently made “disclosures” to people who had a duty to report those disclosures and apparently failed to do so. For those reasons, Sitler’s wife and parents are no longer approved chaperones. What kind of dysfunction would enable a mother and grandparents to put a newborn in harm’s way and to <b>not report</b> “disclosures” Sitler made they that had a <b>duty</b> to report??? I guess they thought their “family values” of protecting the monster were more important than protecting the newborn . . . disgusting.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>In court today, I learned that one of those “disclosures” was Sitler has had physical contact with his infant son which sexually stimulated him! Seriously – WTF?!?! What kind of monster finds <b>anything</b> about an infant sexually stimulating?!?! And that’s the result after <b>nearly ten years of specialized treatment?!?!<o:p></o:p></b></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><b><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>I have observed more than a few court cases and read more than most about crime, including some really bad and disturbing stuff. Never once until today did I think I might have to leave a courtroom to vomit. But, hearing that a father was sexually stimulated by physical contact with his infant son about did me in.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>Further, unlike at the previous hearings, Sitler had a posse of defective “family values” supporters on his side today, several of whom arrived in cars bearing New Saint Andrews stickers. Sitler’s lead counsel, Dean Wullenwaber, was all revved up to make the argument that Sitler has a “fundamental liberty interest” in the companionship of his infant son <b>in spite of Sitler’s depravity</b>. That is, Sitler’s “right” to the companionship of his infant son trumps the child’s right to be kept safe from a pedophile who has “disclosed” he was sexually stimulated by physical contact with said infant son. I don’t know, but I imagine that empty “fundamental liberty” argument was the draw for the insane Sitler posse today.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>In light of what he surely knew about Sitler’s disclosures before today, I cannot imagine how counsel thought the court would be receptive to such an argument, which Bill Thompson, the prosecuting attorney, rightly pointed out was apples and oranges (for those interested in the details of the case Wullenwaber cited, you can read it </span><a href="http://cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastore/opinions/2012/10/23/11-30241.pdf">here</a><span style='color:#1F497D'>).<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>In fairness, it’s possible the parade of freaks didn’t know the heinous details of Sitler’s disclosures before court today – I sure didn’t.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>Yet, not a single one of them had the sense God gave billy goats to put any distance between themselves and the monster once they learned. Who knows -- perhaps in their patriarchal world, it’s perfectly normal for a father to be sexually stimulated by his own infant, and for those around the monster to protect him at the cost of the innocent and vulnerable children.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>That’s decidedly <b>not</b> normal in my world.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='color:#1F497D'>Sitler is the kind of stuff nightmares are made of, and <b>no child will ever be safe </b>when Sitler is around.
