</b>With the seasonably mild winter the City of Moscow and Moscow Volunteer Fire Department are preparing for an active wildfire season along with other agencies in Latah County and the region.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Warmer weather and activities getting in full swing moving towards the summer there is a heavy concern for wildland fires and fire safety. It might appear to be green in areas, however the conditions are still
considered dry and caution must be taken. Wildland fires can start numerous ways such as using a camp fire, clearing a piece of land with equipment, lightning strikes, dragging chains that create a spark, and discarded smoking materials.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Some areas appear to be green; however they have the ability to ignite and are able to burn quickly. In some of the areas that encompass the Moscow area some vegetation appears green such as evergreens and junipers
as well as others, but when pulled apart they hold a significant amount of dried out material that could act as fuel. These conditions pose a significant risk of fire.
