<div dir="ltr"><div><div><div>Your question got me wondering, so for my own curiosity, if not for yours, I just sent the following email to WSU. I've used WSU music copying services before to copy a music CD to analog tape cassette!<br></div><br>Perhaps you have already contacted WSU about this? If I get a positive response from WSU, I'll post info on this to the Vision2020 list.<br></div>------------------------------------------<br></div>Vision2020 Post: Ted Moffett<br><div><div><div><h2 id=":sd" class="" tabindex="-1">Converting 78 RPM Analog Records to MP3</h2><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>Hello <a href="mailto:music@wsu.edu" target="_blank">music@wsu.edu</a><br><br></div>I
am wondering if there is a service at WSU, for a fee, of course, for
converting 78 rpm analog records to digital MP3 (or other digital)
formats?<br><br></div>Given there may be archival needs at WSU for music
recordings, I thought this might be a likely option in the Palouse
Moscow/Pullman area to locate someone who has the necessary equipment to
provide this service.<br></div><div><br>78 rpm records sometimes
require specialized rather rare needles, cartridges (mono!), turntables
and phono stages with special equalization (RIAA, Teldec/DIN, etc.), to
correctly play them.<br><br></div>Thanks for your time!<br><br><span class=""><font color="#888888"></font></span></div><span class=""><font color="#888888">Ted Moffett<br></font></span></div><span class=""><font color="#888888"><div>Moscow, Idaho<br><a href="tel:208-882-8643" value="+12088828643" target="_blank">208-882-8643</a><br></div><div><div><div><div><div><div><br></div></div></div></div></div></div></font></span><br><div class="gmail_quote">---------- Forwarded message ----------<br>From: <b class="gmail_sendername">Tom Hansen</b> <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:thansen@moscow.com">thansen@moscow.com</a>></span><br>Date: Wed, Mar 18, 2015 at 2:46 PM<br>Subject: [Vision2020] Question . . .<br>To: Moscow Vision 2020 <<a href="mailto:vision2020@moscow.com">vision2020@moscow.com</a>><br><br><br><div dir="auto"><div>HEEEEEEELLLLLLP !</div><div><br></div><div>Does anybody here know of somebody who can convert a 78 record (that's a record recorded at 78 rpm) to MP3?</div><div><br></div><div>I, just today, received a 78 record . . . recorded at Washington State College . . . on May 5, 1958 (as in fifty-seven years ago) . . . of the Washington State College Veterinary Choir . . . directed by Mark Keyes . . . of "Halls of Ivy" . . . and "Tannhauser" by Wagner.</div><div><br></div><div>I have the capabilities to convert 33's and 45's, but NOT 78's.</div><div><br></div><div>I would be forever (and a day indebted to you.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks.</div><div><br></div><div><div><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)">Seeya 'round town, Moscow, because . . .</span></div><div><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)"><br></span></div><div><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)">"Moscow Cares" (the most fun you can have with your pants on)</span></div><div><a href="http://www.moscowcares.com/" style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)" target="_blank"><font color="#000000">http://www.MoscowCares.com</font></a></div><span class=""><font color="#888888"><div><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)"> </span></div><div><div><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)">Tom Hansen</span></div><div><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)">Moscow, Idaho</span></div></div><div> </div></font></span></div></div><br></div><br></div></div></div></div></div></div>
