Or is this for a portable digital audio player, or one of those dreadful digital home music servers holding thousands of albums on hard drives, that encourages music becoming background wall paper for a modern distracted multi-tasking digital lifestyle?</div><div><br></div><div>I enjoy putting a vinyl music record on the turntable, and when the side is finished, needing to make a decision, regarding what to listen to next, or putting on the other side.</div><div><br></div><div>If the music just keeps going endlessly with the click of a remote, or with no remote even needed, this can trivialize the experience.</div><div><br></div><div>I can't count the number of times when a 20 minute or so side of a vinyl music recording ended, I sat in awe struck silence at the emotional spiritual impact of the music, for an extended period of time... <div>I didn't buy a special turntable -- I use my regular turntable hooked to a pre-amp that hooks directly to my PC's sound card. It works fine for my purposes, but I'm not an audiophile. Ted is and knows far more about this stuff than I could ever hope to understand, but I do agree with him about MP3 format. YMMV.<br></div>

<div>For me, the huge problem is finding the time to convert our extensive LP collection to digital format. It's a real time process, and even with no post-recording processing, it still takes a lot of time.
