He suffered frostbite to three of his four feet.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">He was taken to FACE Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic when he was still a kitten in mid-February of 2014.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">FACE Special Placements Coordinator Janet Mellinger said Olaf’s frostbite resembled a severe burn. The dead tissue eventually disconnected from the healthy tissue, and as a result he lost all or some of those three feet.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Olaf has adapted, and he manages to get around pretty well. He may not be able to jump -- but he sure can scoot, and FACE employees say he is a happy cat.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><strong style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"></strong></span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Olaf’s room at FACE even includes a ramp so he can easily slide out of his crate to move around and explore his world. </span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">In addition to overcoming his physical impairment, Olaf -- once feral and unsocialized -- has really warmed up to people.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The clinic posted an update to social media last week to share the progress Olaf has made in his recovery process. The <a href="https://www.facebook.com/facespayneuter/posts/946289788723968" target="_blank" sl-processed="1" style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; text-decoration: none;">Facebook post</a> quickly grabbed the attention of more than 1,000 people, who sent their well wishes or inquired about adopting him.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 1.125rem; padding: 0px; border: 0px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">"He is fully recovered, unless someone can figure out some good prosthetic for him to use; we have tried a few options in place of his feet without success.
