However, I found a complete void of coverage of this event after it took place. I eagerly attended the Thursday, Jan. 22, lecture at the CUB ballroom. At the event, the room was packed with at least 1,000 people, including students, staff and many local citizens. The ceremony was well organized and opened with music from the God's Harmony Gospel Choir and School of Music musicians.</span></p><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The Martin Luther King Jr. Day committee presented distinguished service awards to staff and faculty at Washington State University and recognized our Moscow activist, former City Council member and lawyer, Dr. Linda Pall. She was presented with a distinguished service award for community contributions to recognize her longtime membership in the Latah County Human Rights Task Force, activity in the diversity section of the Idaho State Bar and her Love the Law Program.</span></p><div class="encrypted-content" style="outline: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: none !important;"><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Angela Davis spoke for about an hour on many topics of high interest to human rights. The lecture was absolutely first class, and she made a number of important points about our need for global reforms and awareness of human rights.</span></p></div><div class="encrypted-content" style="outline: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: none !important;"><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Why did the Tribune and the Daily News not feature this world-famous activist and her important message at this important event? WSU should be commended for bringing Dr. Davis to speak to the community and students. It was a very significant event, and a highlight for our community. It should have been covered on the front page of the newspapers.
