 of the lyrics you posted below.  This was the day that the music died on 
December 6, 1969 marking the end of the failed experiment of the 1960s 
due to too many dope smoking pot heads that comprised the 'generation 
lost in space'.  I'd encourage you to 'maybe dig a little deeper instead
 of constantly shooting from the hip', but there would be an echo in 
here

 in itself could very well be considered 'the day the music died' to someone

 who I can now see why has been completely and totally forgotten by anyone in the 
1960's who spent copious amounts of time breathing in the sweet perfume
