</span></b><span style="font-size:10.0pt">The City of Moscow has begun work on two streetscape enhancement projects on the West side of Jackson Street between Third and Sixth Streets adjacent to the EMSI building (previously the Daily News building) and the
new commercial project at the Sixth and Jackson intersection. The proposed improvements will include the replacement and widening of the existing sidewalks, installation of decorative LED light fixtures, storm drainage adjustments, and the installation of
new larger tree wells, street trees and decorative tree grates. The current sidewalks are in need of repair and the existing street trees have grown into adjacent properties and present an obstacle to pedestrian flows and ADA accessibility of the public sidewalks.
The project will also provide additional pedestrian safety enhancements by increasing pedestrian visibility and reducing pedestrian crossing distances at the project sites (see concept illustration below). To accommodate these pedestrian improvements, 8 existing
street trees will be required to be removed (6 near the EMSI building and 2 at the Sixth and Jackson project) to allow for the sidewalk reconstruction and the establishment of new street trees in the newly expanded sidewalk areas. These projects are being
undertaken with assistance from the City’s sidewalk program, the Moscow Urban Renewal Agency and the developers of the adjacent properties.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
