Winter, 21, and Charles W. Wright, aka Charles W. Russell, 24, waived their rights Thursday to have the merits of three felony charges against them heard within 21 days of their initial court appearance. Latah County Magistrate John C. Judge set a status hearing in the case for 3:30 p.m. Aug. 19.</span></p><div class="encrypted-content" style="outline: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: none !important;"><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Winter and Wright are being charged jointly with identical crimes related to the death of Lee Pohrman. They are charged with principal to neglect of a vulnerable adult, principal to exploitation of a vulnerable adult and principal to fraudulent act to obtain public assistance. Both Winter and Wright have posted a $5,000 and $10,000 bond, respectively, and have been released from the Latah County Jail.</span></p></div><div class="encrypted-content" style="outline: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: none !important;"><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Pohrman lived with the couple for two and a half years at a trailer residence on the 700 block of Brent Drive in Moscow when police responded to a call about an unconscious man Nov. 3, according to court documents. Police found Pohrman on the kitchen floor wearing a dirty, adult-sized diaper. He died later at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow as a result of prolonged malnutrition, according to court documents.</span></p></div><div class="encrypted-content" style="outline: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: none !important;"><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Pohrman began living with the couple in 2011, when he reportedly asked Wright to be his caretaker after moving out of Good Samaritan Village, according to court documents. He paid the couple $400 per month and then $350 per month to take care of him and for a room.</span></p></div><div class="encrypted-content" style="outline: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: none !important;"><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Court documents indicate that $57,737 was deposited into Pohrman's bank account between Dec. 30, 2010, and Nov. 1. Those records, which were obtained through a search warrant, also showed that $49,030 was taken out of Pohrman's account between March 1, 2011, and Oct. 4. Kovis to represent Winter after her previous attorney, Ashley Rokyta of Moscow, told the judge she had a conflict of interest in the case. Moscow attorney Deborah McCormick is representing Wright.
