In "Legacy Crossing at a crossroads," Elaine Williams describes courses of action that will determine the future of Moscow's urban renewal district (Lewiston Tribune, Feb. 2, Page 1E).</span></p><p style="outline: 0px; margin: 10px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; background-image: none; float: none !important;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Policymakers might perpetuate large-scale, single-use, car-oriented development, or enhance community and prosperity by blending retail, office, residential and entertainment uses, linked by pathways, transit and gathering spaces. Moscow is renowned for an educated workforce, social vibe and quality of life. Idaho Smart Growth recognized it for "embodying every smart growth principal applicable ... ." Williams describes how the public sector patiently and incrementally removed barriers to converting Legacy Crossing into an urban hot spot. The groundwork is laid. New generations are poised to make their marks. Growing numbers of retirees are relocating.
