<body class='hmmessage'><div dir='ltr'>I don't think it qualifies as bonafide satire. I'm not sure if Donovan was serious with his statement that '<span>3/4 of politicians belong in prison'. A lot of politicians push legal envelopes, but only a small percentage of them that actually break any laws worthy of incarceration. And if giving lucrative contract to friends and campaign contributors illegal, then those doing so should be prosecuted.</span><br><br>Regarding the comment of '<span>finding the deal that is best for the taxpayer', that's very subjective. Whether politicians blow the whole wad of available taxpayer cash in one place or spread it out in several places may not make any difference to taxpayers in that the overall chunk of taxes taken out the taxpayer's wallet remains the same for both cases. Another case could be made that 'what is best for the taxpayer' could be that taxes collected are spent on goods and services that the taxpayer provides. Maybe you haven't spent eoungh time around sales pukes adorned with gold chains and rolex watches that sit back with their hands clasped behind their heads asking 'what can we do to close this deal today?'. Cut them some slack. Our prisons are already filled up with blue collar criminals.<br>

The $278,000 is the school districts contract for the Internet. $6000 is the cost per high school, not every school. It doesn't surprise me that individual school districts can find cheaper and better ways to get I<span>nternet</span> connections then the State. It has become very obvious that politicians are giving lucrative government contracts to their friends and campaign contributors rather then finding the deal that is best for the taxpayer. 3/4 of politicians belong in prison. </span></div>
