He lied, used blackmail and intimidated people into confessing, many times to things they did not do. He accused people and ruined their careers and lives with no proof and none was found on many of them. He probably helped the real spies, because everyone was focusing on him and his witch hunt. Also, RFK only worked for his committee for 6 months because he disagreed with McCarthy's actions. McCarthy was friends with Joe Kennedy because they were both anti-communist. You need to do a better job at your historical research. Joe McCarthy was no hero, but a lying, power grabbing, poor excuse for a person, that should make American ashamed.
