We're making a movie! And we need your help.
<p>
Melanie and I are creating a full length DVD documentary of my 50 state tour. In the grand tradition of the endless folk song, we’re taking all the “Vote Republican” videos we’ve been posting to YouTube over the past year, sequencing them and editing them together with extra interstitial footage and incidental music to produce a seamless musical odyssey through the 2012 American political landscape - The Roy Zimmerman Fifty State Tour DVD.
</p><p>
We've written and shot fifty-one videos in all, one from each of the 49 states we’ve toured in, one from the District of Columbia plus a faux aloha from Hawaii. The Roy Zimmerman 50 State Tour DVD will be a rare limited edition work of art, a labor of love for a progressive nation and an amazing compendium of beautiful American scenery and bountiful Republican absurdity.

<a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/royzimmerman/roy-zimmerman-fifty-state-tour-dvd?ref=live">And that's where Kickstarter comes in. With 18 more days (!) to go to the election, we’ve just launched a Kickstarter project to fund the DVD by Election Day. Here’s the link.</a>

We're well on our way to finishing this massive project, but completion will require your help. We're on tour right now, on a swing through the swing states before November's election, and we need to keep the rubber on the road while we shoot the interstitial footage. Then we'll need help underwriting the mixing and editing. And of course we'll need help with the manufacturing. The project and all rewards will be completed and shipped by Inauguration Day, January 20, 2013.
</p><p>
In a vital campaign season like this, so many people are finding ways to make a difference. Walking precincts, phone banking, posting, tweeting, re-tweeting reposts. All of these efforts hit people where they live. Satire hits people where they laugh. Satire gives heart to those who have a heart, and heartburn to those who are heartless. Abraham Lincoln said, "In a democracy, satire is a purifying flame." Actually, he never said that, but I won't let my Kickstarter pitch be dictated by fact checkers.
</p><p>
You may already have donated to the Obama campaign (way to go!) or the Elizabeth Warren campaign (right on!) or the No on 32 campaign (that’s the spirit, Californians!), but this is our campaign for a vision of a more Progressive America. You can pledge as little as $25 or as much as $1500 or more (with an escalating package of rewards) to help make the Roy Zimmerman Fifty-State Tour DVD a reality.
</p><p>
The $1500 pledge level is really exciting -- I'll write an original song for you on the subject of your choice at half my normal fee. Does your hometown progressive group need a theme song? Does your business need a jingle? Does your loved one need a love song? Does your child need a lullaby? The sky's the limit on subject matter (although I do reserve the right of refusal at my sole discretion.) You will receive a demo of the song, recorded by me with voice and guitar, plus a lead sheet and lyric sheet, all for half the price of my normal fee for on-demand songwriting. I look forward to hearing your ideas!
</p><p>
Whether you pledge or not, we'd love for you to participate in this grand endeavor by helping to write the final verse of the song. The last video we'll put together will be the one from Florida, using footage I shot at the Republican National Convention in Tampa with lyrics suggested by you, the viewer. We'll incorporate as many suggestions as possible. That video will go up on Election Day, the deadline for this Kickstarter project. So please, watch the other states' videos, see if we missed anything then respond to this email with your reasons to Vote Republican.
