Another part of this issue is the gross inaccuracy of most pistol/revolver shooters. It takes a great deal of training and constant practice in order to shoot accurately. Even LE officers who have mandatory practice often miss at close range.<br>

It's my understanding that he grabbed a gun and headed in
that direction and was told to go back home. For good
reason, since that's exactly the wrong way to behave when
you are carrying. Using your weapon should be a last
resort, such as when you are pinned down in a movie theater
by an armed assailant. Even then, you still need to think
about whether or not you have a clear line of sight and
where your bullet is likely to go.<br>
