I know that normal print books can be harder to read. You should give a ring to the Disability Support Office at <SPAN id=misspell-0><SPAN class=mark>UI</SPAN></SPAN> or Co-Ad, and they can give you insight (pun <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-1><SPAN style="RIGHT: auto">intended</SPAN></SPAN>) as to which <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-2><SPAN style="RIGHT: auto">assistive</SPAN></SPAN> devices are good for reading normal print and where to get them. No doubt, you are not alone in being an avid reader with w<VAR id=yui-ie-cursor></VAR>orsening eyesight. <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-3>Assistive technology is improving in this area. They even have this pen, where you run it over the words and it reads it for you. How cool is that? </SPAN></FONT></SPAN></SPAN></div>

<DIV>Oh, Donovan, I do agree with you. Nothing, absolutely nothing, beats a good book from the library or <SPAN id=misspell-7 class=mark>Bookpeople</SPAN>, and I do still continue to buy there. In fact, I have to pick up a book tomorrow... Byron Johnson’s account of his days as an Idaho Justice of the Supreme Court. The title: Poetic Justice. My only problem with print books (except large print) is that I often cannot see to read them, hence the electronic substitutes which I can read. </DIV>

<DIV>We have two older Kindle’s and I was wanting to upgrade to a Fire (they do look great and Christmas is coming,) but mainly now I use my I-Pad and I-Phone because I can see the type so much more plainly. Even with the small i-Phone it’s pretty amazing. I have always done all my downloading of books, etc, on my computer anyway. </DIV>

<DIV><SPAN>I bought a Kindle second generation as soon as they came out. I don't buy physical books any more unless they are really cheap or I'm on vacation or something. It's much easier to browse Amazon's book selection right on the Kindle, buy one, and have it delivered to you Kindle in a few seconds.</SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN>The e-ink display I think is a must if you plan to read for long periods of time. No "flashlight in your eyes" effect that you get from a tablet, phone, laptop, or desktop. I'll occasionally use the Android Kindle app to read one of the books I have in my electronic collection (around 50 right now) on my phone if I'm waiting for someone or something and don't have my Kindle on me.</SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN>One of these days I'll make a project of finding a way (legal or otherwise) to strip the <SPAN id=misspell-17 class=mark>DRM</SPAN> from the e-books I buy from Amazon so I can back them up in case there is ever a problem (such as Amazon going out of business or getting out of the e-book business). I haven't worried too much about it since it stays out of your way and I don't have another e-book reader to try to transfer them to. The <SPAN id=misspell-18 class=mark>DRM</SPAN> is the only real downside I've found, and I can live with it for now.<BR></SPAN></DIV>
