Heartland Fire and Sheriff responded to discover what appeared to be a live World War II style grenade. Sheriff's Bomb/Arson detail was called out to the scene, where they rendered it safe and disposed of it safely. The grenade was in two pieces, where the ignition assembly was separate from the grenade body. I am unsure who exactly discovered the grenade, but the person did the right thing, Lakeside Fire Protection District Division Chief Jim Kirkpatrick says. He says some people actually try to pick up the ordinance and bring it to a fire or police station! It is unclear if the homeowner will face
any charges.</SPAN>
