That is the wrong way to change your life and your health. I am not within 25 lbs of my ideal weight instead of 120 because I am able to resist donuts. I am this weight now because I educated myself and kicked the addictions of smoking, drinking, soda, fast food, high fructose corn syrup, and I enjoy walking and doing things. Diet soda, even though it has 0 calories, can easily make a person gain 15-50lbs of excess weight and also cause high blood pressure and diabetes. People need proper education so they can live healthier lives. So yes, they need protection.
