How's This for Cool?

The Mercedes Smart Fortwo

<photo.JPG>

20,000!

That’s
about as many of the cars as the Mercedes Benz Smart division had planned to
sell in the U.S. for all of 2010. Admittedly, deposits on the two seaters are
only $99 a pop. But the hoopla surrounding this 40-mpg vehicle evokes BMW’s
reintroduction of the Mini in 2002. Today the Mini costs between $17,000 and
$30,000. The Smart Fortwo costs between $12,000 and $17,000. Still, this is no
guarantee for success. While two-seat micro cars have been popular in Europe
for decades, Smart is actually losing money in that
market.

----------------------------------

Seeya round town,
