<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Idaho communities and neighborhoods are prime locations for people of all ages and abilities to engage in free physical activity. Physical activity can enhance people’s quality of life and reduce their risk for
obesity and related chronic diseases. Studies indicate that 44% of Idaho adults are not active enough, while 20% do not engage in leisure time physical activity.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Implementing policies that create better mobility options and safer streets have a positive impact on health. A real or perceived lack of safety while engaging in outdoor physical activity, including alternate
forms of transportation such as walking and biking, can prevent people from reaching the recommended levels of physical activity needed for optimal health. With improved planning and policies, communities ultimately encourage more outdoor activity and improve
their citizens’ health. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Workshops include four cross-discipline presentations including public health, land use planning, Health Impact Assessments, and transportation funding. Presenters include Katie Frith Lamansky, CHES, Idaho Department
