<span style="font-size:11.0pt">Moscow police officers are focusing efforts on increasing public awareness related to winter driving.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<span style="font-size:11.0pt">As inclement weather continues to cause hazardous conditions, please consider the following:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;text-align:justify">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt">-Many accidents on icy or snow packed roadways are directly related to vehicles following too close, or driving too fast for conditions. Idaho traffic code requires drivers to take into account the conditions under which they
are driving. If the roads are slick drivers should slow down and give greater distance between vehicles. Please allow yourself more travel time so plan early.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;text-align:justify">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt">-Idaho traffic code requires drivers to clear snow/frost from their vehicle. Drivers should clear the snow from all of their windows, mirrors and lights. It is not safe or permissible for a driver to clear only enough snow or
frost from their windows to create a portal. Please give yourself enough travel time so you are able to check and clear your vehicle of snow and frost.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;text-align:justify">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt">-Consider the limitations of your vehicle and identify potential, difficult traffic areas. The slope of some roads and streets are such that it may not be a good idea to travel on them under snowy or icy conditions. Also, snow
berms are often not as traversable as they appear, in fact, they are often impassable.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;text-align:justify">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt">-When confronted with ice and snow, please remember stopping distances increase and visibility decreases, drivers must consider the effect on pedestrians and bicyclists. Pedestrians and bicyclists are prevalent in the City of
Moscow, even in the winter months. Pedestrians and bicyclists are harder to see than vehicles, especially during the shortened days of winter. Drivers must take greater care and consideration for pedestrians and bicyclists in the winter.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;text-align:justify">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt">-Idaho traffic code requires drivers to take responsibility for the condition of their vehicle. Please check the condition of your vehicle prior to challenging the added demands and responsibilities of winter driving. Windshield
wipers, windshield fluid, and tires are among the most basic items to check on your vehicle.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
