Mitch Miller's TV show "Sing Along With Mitch" ran from 1961-66 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitch_Miller ), and I do recall watching it during those years. Someone born in 1961 could have viewed his show when 4-5 years old and now be only 49. If someone saw his show in 1966 when they were 10, they could now be 54, by today's standards still qualifying as "middle aged." Of course lifespan varies considerably, so someone who will live to 90 might for practical purposes be "middle aged" till they are 70, while someone who will die at 70 might be for practical purposes entering "old age" at 50.

Middle age is the time of life between youth and old age, usually thought of as being between forty and sixty.

Just read of the passing of Mitch Miller at the age of 99. One of the solid pillars of my childhood memories was gathering with the family and watching his TV show, following the bouncing ball, not to mention listening to a few "Sing Along with Mitch" vinyl albums. I have to confess I didn't even realize he was still alive. If you can remember the show or the albums, that means.....you are really, really, old......
