<div>in our area. I decided to ask Capt. Lonnie Richardson of
the Idaho State Police</div>
<div>Office in Lewiston to comment on the question. Here is his
report.</div>

<blockquote type="cite" cite>Methamphetamine trafficking and use is
still one of the most prevalent illegal drugs in our region. Currently
our detectives are investigating numerous methamphetamine trafficking
cases in the region and routinely assist Latah County Sheriff's
Deputies, Moscow Police Detectives as well as other Law
Enforcement in the region with methamphetamine investigations in their
jurisdictions. Although we have see a decrease in the number of
methamphetamine manufacturing cases, much of this is due to the
availability of crystal methamphetamine coming from Mexico through
California and Arizona into the Tri-Cities and Spokane area. We have
recently seized crystal methamphetamine, in the Lewiston area,
that purity tests ranged from 88 to 99.9 percent pure
methamphetamine; making the drug that much more addictive and
dangerous. Very rarely do our troopers or detectives seize
methamphetamine that is not in the crystal form. We have more
recently seen an increase in the cost of methamphetamine as well. With
dealers selling methamphetamine for as much as $2,000.00 for one
ounce. With this we tend to see a trend in the burglaries, thefts and
other criminal activity proportionately in the area to pay for the
cost of the drug. </blockquote>

Sheriff Rausch has a detective assigned to narcotics investigations,
Deputy Carl Fork, who routinely meets and works with us. He may
be able to provide you a more local perspective in Latah
County.</blockquote>

<blockquote>Tpr. Collins arrested Robert E. LADD on a warrant out of
Nez Perce County for FTA - pretrial DWP. Subject was
incarcerated at Nez Perce County jail.<br>

<blockquote>Cpl. Baldwin's DUI arrest of Vernon J. BOGAR was also
charged with two counts of (M) misdemeanor injury to a child.
Subject was incarcerated at Nez Perce County jail.<br>

<blockquote>MCpl. Brouwer, along with Tpr. Matt Clark and Cpl. Koopman
as reconstructionist, investigated a fatality crash involving William
F. MILES. Mr. MILES was northbound on US 95 near milepost 207
when he drifted off the left side of the roadway without taking any
corrective action. His vehicle went down a 75 foot steep
embankment and landed on its top in the Salmon River. He was
wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is a factor in the crash.<br>

Module shipments.<br>
