City of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City></st1:place> will
be assuming operations of the current VanPool program managed by
Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute beginning July 1, 2010. PCEI
has successfully managed the program for more than 16 years and the City is
excited to build on the foundation laid for this program. <o:p></o:p></p>

face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><font size=3
face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>“Providing a
cost-effective transportation option for citizens that also reduces the
negative effects on our environment is a win-win for citizens and our
community,” says Jen Pfiffner, Assistant to the City Supervisor for the
City of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City></st1:place>
who will be coordinating VanPool activities.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><font size=3
face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><font size=3
face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Three vans will be
managed by the City, a 15-passenger that travels from <st1:City w:st="on">Lewiston</st1:City>
to <st1:City w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City>, an 8-passenger that will begin a <st1:City
w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City> to Lapwai route and a 7-passenger that is being
considered for a Kendrick/Juliaetta to <st1:City w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City> or
Potlatch to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City></st1:place>
route. As there is limited seating for each route, those interested in
riding are encouraged to contact the City to reserve their seat early.
For seats that are not available the City is maintaining a waiting list and
will contact interested riders on a first come first serve basis.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><font size=3

offers a variety of incentives to new and continuing riders including discounts
for drivers, shared seats, shared households and provides a guaranteed ride home
in case of emergency. Rates vary by route and are calculated to cover the
costs of the particular route only. Current rates for the <st1:City
w:st="on">Lewiston</st1:City> to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City></st1:place>
route is $120 per rider. When compared to the average commuting cost of
$1,020 for 5 days for a month, from <st1:City w:st="on">Lewiston</st1:City> to <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City></st1:place> when accounting for
fuel, insurance, maintenance and other incidentals, riders realize significant
savings. The environment also benefits from programs such as VanPool
including reduced commuter traffic and green house gases.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

through Idaho Department of Transportation and the American Recovery and
