The 2010 Census Portrait of America Road Tour is coming to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State
w:st="on">Idaho</st1:State></st1:place>, making stops at nine rural and hard-to-count,
locations. From local community, civic and cultural events, the <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>Road Tour aims to educate and motivate <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Idaho</st1:State></st1:place>’s growing,
and increasingly diverse, population</span></b> <b><span style='font-weight:
bold'>to mail back the 10-question census form. Each household will be
mailed a questionnaire the week of March 15<sup>th</sup></span></b> (except
hand-delivery areas/PO Box areas). The Road Tour is part of the largest civic
outreach and awareness campaign in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region
w:st="on">U.S.</st1:country-region></st1:place> history, stopping at more than
800 events nationwide.<o:p></o:p></p>

face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>“Abacus,” our
regional tour vehicle, is a van with a 14-foot pull trailer that inspires
events with music, kids and community members. It started its tour January 4
from the <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Golden Gate</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">Bridge</st1:PlaceType> in <st1:City w:st="on">San Francisco</st1:City>
and is amidst a 100-day journey that moved toward <st1:State w:st="on">Oregon</st1:State>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Idaho</st1:State> (heading to northern <st1:State w:st="on">Idaho</st1:State>
next) and will conclude in <st1:State w:st="on">Washington</st1:State> at <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Seattle</st1:City></st1:place>’s Space
Needle. Traveling more than 150,000 miles around the country from January to
April, 13 road tour vehicles are providing the public with an educational,
engaging and interactive experience that brings the 2010 Census to life.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State

road tour events focus on hard-to-count populations and schools (K-12 and
higher education). The Tour hit events in St. Anthony, Fort Hall, ISU, <st1:City
w:st="on">Twin Falls</st1:City>, Rupert and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on">Boise</st1:City></st1:place> on its way up the state. Local Census
supporters and employees are organizing each event, giving local residents an
opportunity to learn about the 2010 Census. The tour will showcase the benefits
a complete count can bring to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Idaho</st1:State></st1:place>’s
communities and an interactive display of the census form, including why each
question is asked, and how the collected information is used. Idahoans can
contribute stories and photos to the Portrait of America project to explain why
“I count!” and view messages from other Road Tour participants. <o:p></o:p></p>
