12.0pt'>The official observance of the holiday was signed into law on May 26,
1954 by President Dwight Eisenhower as Armistice Day and was amended on
November 8, 1954 to be called Veterans Day. The holiday is designated to
honor all military veterans. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
