I haven't had any experience with PFLAG, and I support granting full civil and legal rights to GLBT couples; calling it "marriage" is no threat to mine at all, whereas injustice anywhere is a threat to everyone.

I wonder, Glenn, if you understand that even a 10-second search would lead one to conclude that civil unions and marriage have stabilizing effects on virtually any demographic, including the GLBT population. A quick trip to the Bank of Common Sense would also, I suspect, lead you to figure that out. You might not like the direction that the Bank of Common Sense and the scientific community point you to, but I would think that supporting stable, monogamous, loving relationships, between partners AND within their extended families, is a good thing if it leads any person, homo- or heterosexual, out of destructive, abusive, suicide-inducing and otherwise dangerous behavior. I don't drink Pepsi (don't get me started; I think soda pop is of Satan . . . ), but I'm glad they're exhibiting good corporate citizenship.

And if, by chance, Pepsi Co. decided to support efforts to lead middle-aged men out of reckless, destructive, and indulgent patterns of living and into lifestyles that promote morality, health, respect of others, and overall physical and spiritual well-being, I'd applaud them.

I've long been concerned about the "lifestyle" that leads to the smoking of cigars, the huge sausage/bacon/egg breakfast platters, the overconsumption of fine wine and stout beer, the gorging on candy with the little ones, and the enthusiastic, seemingly uninhibited embrace of feasting, feasts, festivals, and fudge. After all, the effect on the heart is significant; the effect on the spiritual heart even more so. Would Pepsi Co. ever be so brave as to take a corporate stand encouraging organizations that try to help those who so indulge, or would they join the masses and crow about how their early deaths are all their fault?

Keely
www.keely-prevailingwinds.com

> Date: Tue, 6 Oct 2009 17:54:30 -0700
> From: vpschwaller@gmail.com
> To: vision2020@moscow.com
> Subject: Re: [Vision2020] time to drink more Pepsi?
>
> Mr/Ms Hendrickson states "This quote was too much for me to let slide
> through, "It's a medical fact that persons trapped in homosexuality
> are statistically higher to experience shortened life spans, clinical
> depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and life-ending diseases.
