Gary,

You're here right now pretending McCain didn't make the
joke. I've never seen video of it, and apparently that's the only proof
you'll accept. Meanwhile in the reality-based community there's not much
question about it.

As for Craig...damn right I'd object to it in the
courtroom, that's my job, even if I believe the rumor to be true. And
I'd have told him to see if he could get the charge amended to disturbing the
peace and try to make it go away, which is what he tried to do. I'll bet
a lawyer told him to do that when it happened. I don't believe he never
consulted with a lawyer prior to his plea. Of course we can't know
unless he gives that lawyer permission to speak about it, or he tells us
himself; both are unlikely to happen.

It's not a case I'd be eager to
take to trial if I could get a decent offer. And I sure wouldn't want to put
him on the stand to tell his version of it, the one you believe. Well,
I'd do it if I could get six of you in the jury box; maybe just you
would be enough if we wanted to put our hopes on a hung jury.

But I
wouldn't take that chance with you for a client who wasn't a Republican
senator. I think you'd be able to call bullshit on that story if it
weren't Craig telling it.

Getting back to the original point, Palin's a
public figure, and she's fair game. Her kids should be off limits,
unless they take steps to make themselves into public figures. Bristol Palin's
done that with her decision to become a spokesperson for abstinence, but I
still wouldn't make jokes about her and the Yankee third
baseman.

Sunil

Would you be willing to provide me with the quote in
which I said either of those things? I don't doubt for a second that McCain
could have made the joke. (it was only half funny. I think Chelsea is kind of
cute) I also know that hanson can't document it. With regard to Craig, can you
provide indisputable proof that he's gay? He might well be but, pleading
guilty to disorderly conduct really doesn't make as strong a case as you seem
to think. The only sure proof would be for Craig to come out and admit to the
fact. He hasn't. Apart from that everything else is conjecture. I'm would have
to believe that you would object to it in the courtroom, why do you
embrace it here?

Actually, why don't you document the example you just provided. Hows about
> you provide a link to the video or the audio of McCain actually
making that
> particular jape? I'm afraid a mention on a left wing
web site isn't quite
> the definitive documentation needed to
convince me. Being the lists u-tube
> guru, this ought to be a fairly
simple matter for you to arrange.
>
> Maybe while you're at it
find something equivalent to the amusing anecdotes
> involving the 14
year old daughters of conservative western state governors
> having
casual sex in public with baseball players widely noted for their
>
inability to keep it in their trousers. That would be a real hoot.
>
