<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Nathan Alford has snagged a winner here. It is
certainly good news for Tribune readers and those of us who appreciate opinion

AM I???</FONT></DIV>

<H1>Trib hires new opinion page editor</H1>
<P>Tribune<BR>April 15, 2009</P>
<P></P>
<P>Marty Trillhaase, a veteran opinion writer with deep Idaho roots, will
replace Jim Fisher as the Lewiston Tribune's opinion page editor.</P>
<P>Trillhaase, 52, opinion page editor at the Idaho Falls Post Register, will
move to the Tribune at the end of May when Fisher, 62, retires.</P>
<P>"Marty Trillhaase is a respected and capable individual, an accomplished
journalist, and a colorful, well-researched editorial writer. Our deep
tradition of editorial independence is in quality hands," Nathan Alford, the
Tribune's editor and publisher, said Tuesday. "The Tribune and its readers,
from all political and social persuasions, are fortunate to have a
Trillhaase-type veteran come aboard."</P>
<P>Trillhaase is a former Tribune political reporter and has worked as an
Idaho journalist for 30 years. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from
the University of Idaho in 1979. After graduation he went to work for the
Times-News in Twin Falls.</P>
<P>He moved to Moscow in 1983 to report for the Idahonian (now the
Moscow-Pullman Daily News) and jumped to the Tribune, where he worked from
1988 to 1992. He then wrote for the Post Register and <BR>Idaho Statesman in
Boise until being named the Post Register's opinion page editor in 1996.</P>
<P>Trillhaase's wife, Karen, 44, grew up in Clarkston and Lewiston. They have
a 12-year-old daughter, Sara.</P>
<P>Fisher, except for a period when he taught at the University of Idaho, has
worked at the Tribune since 1982. A Tribune political reporter for three
years, he left and spent two years teaching journalism. He then returned to
the Tribune 22 years ago to become an opinion writer. He took over as editor
of the opinion page when Bill Hall retired seven years ago.</P>
<P>"Make no mistake, Jim Fisher's rare talent and deep institutional memory
will be severely missed. It's been my opportunity to work with Jim. He's
leaving behind years of quality effort and daily contribution," Alford said.
"It's up to Trillhaase to continue the best of the traditions and bring his
own style to the page. This reader is excited to read the initials of MT on
the opinion page."</P></DIV><BR><BR>__________ NOD32 2094 (20070304)
