<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Then why would they need to be extradited? If they are violating the same laws, you are advocating we try them twice for the same crime, once in our courts and once in the world court? </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>"#1and 5 would be irrelevant as long as our leaders were proceeding lawfully."</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> Not true, the US can violate international law in order to protect its own interests. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>"As for 6, the rest of us who abide by the law do so despite the inconvenience."</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The rest of us are not making major world real time decisions. I do not want a US General hauled off in the middle of a battle because of "charges" from a previous battle that she make a mistake and killed an old woman crossing the street with a bomb banned in 2007. Nor do I want the Secretary of State hauled off in the middle of UN conference because of a decision she made three months previous not to give aid to Zambia. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>One thing I know is that lawyers can and will argue any law or treaty to mean anything they want and tie up progress and goodwill for years or decades. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>And you forgot number #2, which is the most important, keeping US National Secrets that government officials know out of the hands of opposing governments. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>It is comical to think we should have a world court. Imagine China being the judge of territorial boundaries. Or Iran seated on the Human Rights Commission. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I will be for a WORLD COURT the day we can legally put a bullet in the back of every lawyer's head, because that is only way it would be run ethically, fairly and with the peoples interest at heart. </DIV>

If such a thing were to happen, our leaders would likely be tried for violations of our laws. Therefore your concerns # 3 and 4 wouldn't apply. #1and 5 would be irrelevant as long as our leaders were proceeding lawfully. As for 6, the rest of us who abide by the law do so despite the inconvenience.<BR><BR>Sunil<BR><BR>

<DIV>It would be a very bad idea to put OUR leaders up for trial in a Kangaroo World Court for several reasons.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>1) Our leaders are elected to do things that are something bad for other countries. </DIV>
<DIV>2) Our leaders hold national security information that could be exhorted from them</DIV>
<DIV>3) It allows other nations to determine what values and beliefs we should hold</DIV>
<DIV>4) It allows others to establish laws higher than US laws, which we do not have input into</DIV>
<DIV>5) Our elected leaders would be pressured to do what is best for other nations over ours out of fear of punishment.</DIV>
<DIV>6) It would inconvenience our leaders from doing their jobs if they could be kidnapped and moved to another country.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I suggest instead, we try our own leaders and allow other countries to do that same. </DIV>
