<div>The post below is an example of "hijacking" a thread on a list serve... If someone wishes to discuss a topic different than the one in the subject heading in the post they are responding to, start a new thread under a different subject heading... I try to follow this simple rule.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Regarding making a major constitutional rights issue out of gun regulation being a step on the road to a totalitarian state, it appears, from previous posts, that the writer below does not think bigoted laws that block same sex couples protections and privileges under the law (violations of the the Fourteenth Amendment Equal Protection clause), when those couples seek the legal protections and privileges afforded heterosexual couples, is an example of totalitarian state regulation worthy of making a fuss about. Also, the writer has been ominously silent (or did I miss something?) about totalitarian police state tactics in the "War On Drugs" undermining the Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure. It appears there are glaring inconsistencies in the thinking of this writer, regarding what totalitarian tactics our government is engaged in, that they will protest.<br>
</div>
<div>Perhaps the writer below defending gun rights can explain why they do not demonstrate the same passion to defend extending legal protections to same sex couples based on the Fourteenth Amendment, or to protest the erosion of the Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure, which have been decimated in the irrational and politically motivate propaganda campaigns involved in the "War On Drugs?"</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Or do I misunderstand the biases of this writer?</div>
