Joe,

Yes yes the never ending question. I feel that if a person is not ready to quit then they won't, ten fold if their community has no place for them to better their lives. Never ending cycle.

I do feel that prevention and intervention are keys to success, but our society is not ready for full legalization of all drugs. We live in a over consumption society.

Make weed legal, opening our prisons, and generating revenue so we pay off debts, counseling, education, food for poor etc. It's about time. Hope that made since I am in a time crunch.

M

From: philosopher.joe@gmail.com
To: mattd2107@hotmail.com
Date: Mon, 2 Mar 2009 16:31:22 -0800
CC: vision2020@moscow.com; donovanjarnold2005@yahoo.com; garrettmc@verizon.net
Subject: Re: [Vision2020] Failed Drug Policies from Nixon to Bush

One question: from a policy point of view is it better to treat drug abuse as a crime or an illness. While I will agree that weed should be legalized, it is hard for me to understand why all other drugs should be. I am open to discussion but have seen the first hand effects it does to you and surrounding loved ones. I admit I have not done coke, but have known people that do. Also, how quickly their lives take a turn, compared to what alcohol does, in a time sense.

Plus I fear the government won't be able to regulate the hard drug trade, being, I doubt organized crime will want to give up their most lucrative product. I feel they would be willing to part ways with marijuana, or try to sell it at a lesser cost then the govt' would.

Matt

> Date: Mon, 2 Mar 2009 15:54:24 -0800
> From: garrettmc@verizon.net
> To: vision2020@moscow.com; donovanjarnold2005@yahoo.com
> Subject: Re: [Vision2020] Failed Drug Policies from Nixon to Bush
>
> Donovan writes:
>
> "that statement is so outlandish it is hard to take anything else you say seriously."
>
>
> Perhaps we all say things that seem outlandish, but from my experience seeing people I know on cocaine, that's my opinion.
