<DIV>Sue,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>You are correct. I am insensitive to the needs of the lazy able
bodied who "think" they have problems because of some snow on a
sidewalk. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I deal with people with real problems. I work with people on
chemo therapy, dialysis, and other life threatening illnesses. I deal
with parents with children with cases of Autism. I work with people
that are missing arms, legs, and are in advanced stages of
<SPAN>Alzheimer's</SPAN> or dementia. I work for people
that have only $80-$41 a month after medical costs are paid. I
deal with families losing their children, mothers, brothers, sisters,
and spouses of 60+ years. I deal with a man who was stationed in
Hiroshima at the end of WWII. I work with Veterans that cannot get
proper medical care for their war injuries. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>You don't have problems, I don't have problems, people fighting for
removal of every snow flake don't have real problems, You bet I am
insensitive to the whiners and complainers that don't have a CLUE as to
what pain, suffering, inconvenience and loss really is. They have
everything handed to them, and want future generations to pay for their
luxury and squandering without a bit of understanding of
what sacrifice is about. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I watched Latah County kick out everyone of its elderly people in
their care by closing down its only long term facility. I saw no
compassion from the county, just greedy people wanting the building and
how they could make money off of it. I didn't even see anyone mention
the funerals of those that died shortly after their forced move. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>You are right, I have no compassion for the lazy able bodied that
want to waste taxpayers money while ignoring the needs of the truly
disabled and those with real problems and challenges.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>If you took all the whiners and complainers about the snow, gave
them a shovel, they could solve their problem without the government or
taxpayer monies. But they cannot, because they need the government to do
anything and everything for them. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Best Regards,</DIV>

PM<BR><BR><PRE>Bev and others,
Personally I think too many people share Donovan's opinion (from an earlier
post:) if you don't like the snow, just move south. Contrary to what he
feels, it is insensitive. To personalize a bit: we have spent most of our
adult lives in Moscow. We raised 3 chidren here. We worked to make Moscow
a better place for ourselves, our children, and others who love it despite
it's winter weather. And now that we are retired we do leave in the
winter.
But, to be honest, we know that isn't a very good solution--most
people--the folks who live and work in Moscow, the elderly, the disabled,
and others who just like the cold, deserve conditions that are safe for
walking and travel. Before we left Norm did shovel our walks and driveway,
only to have them plowed in with ice chunks he couldn't move. There were
two days when we couldn't get out of our driveway even with 4 wheel drive
because the berm that the snowplow left was simply immovable.
So, Bev, you make a valuable point. The city needs to take care not to make
things worse when clearing roads, and residents and business people need to
take care of their walks so everyone feels safe using them.
To say to Moscow residents, "If you don't like it, leave," simply
allows one
to wash his hands of the problems instead of working toward solutions.
>From one who admits she's glad to be out of the snow. (and in a
Democratic
state--what a bonus.)
