Ken -

I got hooked on Pat Condell about a year or so back when I watched his video . . .

"United States of Jesus"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f01IBDoZGg

I agree with alot of his stuff and disagree with almost as much. But, you've got to appreciate his willingness to express himself.

I have, since then, subscribed to his YouTube account. He seems to produce a new 6- to 7-minute video once or twice a month.
It's an indication of how little determination I have
> placed into searching the Internet for agreement with my self-determined
> positions that I have not heard of, or heard, Pat Condell until this morning.
>
> So, the answer to your question is no, that's not what I was getting at.
>
> After a brief McGovern flashback at the backing someone 1,000 percent comment,
> I listened to the rest of the video, and then three or four others from him
> with some interest. If one were to peg his natural presentation power at 10,
> I would dial him back to an 8 for a couple of reasons.
>
> First, his presentation does not pause at any point to allow settling into
> one's mind the thought before the verbal period. One might reply that the
> medium's time constraints require a quickly paced presentation, to which I
> would reply the medium is less important than the response of the recipient
> of the message. The impression of a bum's rush to the end of a video may add
> some sense of power through insistent impressiveness, but persistent
> presentation without pause for a space between one sentence's period and the
> next sentence's initial capital masks a greater grace of delivery Mr. Condell
> likely otherwise could evince.
>
> Second, he seems to assume an identity between the official tenets of Islam
> and all of the adherents of Islam, and that this identity is uniformly bad.
> While it may well be that the majority of it is bad, it may be the case that
> there are one or two features of the religion that are not totally bad, and
> there may be one or two adherents of the religion who are not so totally, so
> fanatically, adherent to it that they are beyond all reason. Identifying
> those features and those adherents may have some salutary value.
>
> On the other hand, regardless of the religion with which one is concerned,
> there is much truth to what Pat Condell is saying, and the straightforward
> and clear manner in which he says it leaves little doubt as to his position.
> For this he is to be commended.
>
> I expect that after the Thanksgiving weekend now upon us, I will spend some
> more time watching and listening to his videos. Thanks again for the link.
>
> And now, time for a turkey trip.
>
>
> Ken
>
> =======================================================
> List services made available by First Step Internet,
> serving the communities of the Palouse since 1994.
> mailto:Vision2020@moscow.com
> =======================================================
