Roger,<br><br>Riddle me this...why is it that the unstoppable juggernaut Democrats always have so much power (even when they're in the minority) to pass whatever policies - no matter how perceived detrimental to America - and yet the Republicans are always so impotent to roll all these bad policies back? The Republicans warn about the impending Freddie Mac / Fannie Mae implosion and yet they are powerless to do anything to prevent it even when they have full power of the White House and Congress. The interesting thing to me is that the Republicans with full power had no trouble changing the bankruptcy laws to become more Draconian and yet with Wall Street melting down, they were pretty darn quick to find $700 billion (with a b) previously unavailable dollars to rescue / bailout irresponsible Wall Street firms most of which still have billions of dollars set aside to pay out all those juicy bonuses to their undeserving employees. I agree with you wholeheartedly that the key to Obama's success is to govern from the near center, convince his party to move to the center (good luck with that) and also work in cooperative manner with the Republicans (good luck with that too, but I think the Republican minority may be amenable to some compromises).<br><br>Also of note is that Rush Limbaugh's key to a Republican resurgence is for them to move further to the right. Good Grief! Does neither side understand that when the pendulum swings very to either the right or the left, that in the next election or two, it swings just as far in the opposite direction? Maybe not and we'll just keep oscillating from one party to the other every 8 years.<br><br>-Scott<br><br><hr id="stopSpelling">From: suehovey@moscow.com<br>To: donovanjarnold2005@yahoo.com; lfalen@turbonet.com<br>Date: Wed, 5 Nov 2008 22:18:18 -0800<br>CC: vision2020@moscow.com<br>Subject: Re: [Vision2020] Obama<br><br>

<div>Roger,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The reason Obama won is because they tired of Republicans ranting
and raving and blaming everyone for their mistakes rather than owning up
to them and working with others to better the country.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Obama cannot make a disaster of the nation because it already is a
disaster. Obama has been hired to clean up the mess. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Bush and his cronies have destroyed the US economy, the world's
faith in the US, and the Republican Party. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Republican Party will continue to shrink and become more and
more of an obscure politically powerless party until they
discontinue their negative attitude and nastiness toward everyone
that dares disagree with them.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Obama will not try to govern from the 51% of the population on the
left, as Bush did from the right. Obama will have a much larger
coalition, and be more inclusive, not exclusive as Bush has been. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Obama will be President of the United States, not President of the
Blue States or just the Red States like our current President. </div>

The economy melt down.<br>This last one is pure serendipity for Omama. If Kerry had been elected last time<br>this would still have occurred and no one could blame the Republicans. The<br>seeds were sown when Carter signed "The Community Reinvestment Act "<br>into law. This laid the groundwork for ACORN and Obama to pressure banks into<br>making loans to high risk people. With Obama advising ACORN they took Citibank<br>to court over discriminatory lending and won. <br>McCain and some other republicans sounded an alarm about Freddie and Fannie in<br>2004. Obama, Franks and Pelosi said Freddie and Fannie were just find. None of<br>this is to excuse the vultures on wallstreet. All of this aside Obama's is<br>truly an American success story. He went from rags to riches and archived the<br>highest elected office in the land. This is a great tribute to him. He now has<br>it within his grasp to become a truly great president if he will govern from the<br>center right to the center left. If he reverts to his political roots and<br>governs from the hard left, it will be a disaster for both him and the nation.<br>It is his choice.
