That's the funny thing about politics Roger, things can go
completely the opposite direction that you would think. I believe it was
Harry Blackmun, a Republican Richard Nixon appointee, who wrote the majority
opinion on Roe v Wade. Also, Justice John Paul Stevens who is still a
very liberal justice on the supreme court at age 88 was appointed by
Republican Gerald Ford. And the biggest threat to Roe - the case that
redrew the abortion lines (Planned Parenthood v Casey) - was spearheaded by
Pennsylvania Democratic governor Bob Casey. It's the classic 'be careful
what you wish for' scenario. Obama and the Democratic Congress is
probably the best thing in laying the seeds for a Republican comeback and
'Contract with America - the Sequel' in 2010.

-Scott

> Date:

about right. Of the 7 Supreme Court appointees by republicans There are
several that did not turn out as planed. The same came be said of former
justice Byran White who was appointed by a democrat.
> Roger
>

mess with their consolidated power, just like the Republicans did. For some
reason, neither party understands that they should govern from the center in
order to keep their elected positions. My prediction (although this is an easy
call) is that the Republican will sweep into Congress in 2010 and after that
things will be very good until 2016 when the GOP will win back the White House
and then proceed to choke once again (as both parties always do) controlling
both the executive and legislation branches. The one thing I am looking
forward to is some Obama appointments to the Supreme Court. Right now, there
are 7 Republican appointees to 2 Democratic appointees (yeah, yeah, yeah,
they're all supposed to be non-partison).
> >
> > Also, I
tip my hat to John McCain. He's a class act as is Obama.
> >
>
