He did not receive federal "financial aid' because he was not a citizen. To this day, he is one of the proudest Americans that I know. His son is now serving in the military. What is the American Dream? I don't know. It is probably different for everyone. I can imagine that New York and Chicago were full of "illegal" labor back in the day. Is illegal labor allowed the same protections as legal labor? I don't think so.
