Those engaging on Vision2020 do not have to become "embroiled in dialog that sinks as low..." as on some public forums. Consider the many Vision2020 posts from former Moscow Council member Linda Pall, or the contributions from Idaho legislator Tom Trail, always informative, polite and never sinking to any low. Linda Pall was able to engage on Vision2020 with the public, as any public official should. And Moscow City Council members are elected public servants who should, as a qualification for the job, be open to engaging with the public on heated and contentious issues. It would be better if politicians did not have to deal with personal attacks, but we know the reality of what it means to serve in public life. If someone does not have a thick enough skin to engage in public on heated and contentious issues, I suggest they are not properly suited for the job.
