– Dangerous street conditions call for additional measures by <st1:Street
w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">City of Moscow street</st1:address></st1:Street>
crews, due to recent snowfalls and current freezing conditions. Because
of the colder temperatures, the magnesium chloride solution typically used to
melt ice is ineffective. As an alternative, sand and gravel are being
spread to help minimize those conditions. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

with slick conditions back to the appropriate public works department for
attention. Also, if citizens have concerns regarding a particular road,
they are asked to call 208-882-COPS to report their concerns.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman"'>With snow showers forecasted for Thursday
and Friday of this week, travelers are reminded to drive cautiously, allow
additional time to reach their destination, and to keep watch for snow removal
equipment in operation throughout the City. After snowfall events, major
streets and arterials are plowed first, followed by the lesser traveled
residential areas. Additionally, under <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Moscow</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">City</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>
ordinances, it is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner to keep
sidewalks clear of snow and debris. If a property owner is
physically unable to clear their sidewalks of snow and debris they may contact
the Moscow Snow Patrol, a Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute program at
<a href="http://pcei.org/VolunteerSnow.htm">http://pcei.org/VolunteerSnow.htm</a>.
Citizens are also requested to be observant of fire hydrant locations to ensure
that emergency access is maintained by clearing approximately three feet of
snow from around those hydrants. To assist in keeping accumulated snow
cleared, it is helpful if citizens move cars to an already cleared area to
allow crews to push back that built up snow.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
