of 1996 very, VERY well. Sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow followed by a
sudden thaw and heavy rains . . . the great flood of 1996. I and my wife were
living in the Park Village Apartments. I was in the last semester of my senior
year. We ended up spending a couple nights in the Wallace complex, ten days at
the Mark IV Hotel, and ultimately to the apartment we are currently residing

We were living at the base of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Moscow</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Mountain</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> with a
one-day-old baby. The temps were, at our house, recorded by an accurate <st1:City
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Taylor</st1:place></st1:City> max/min
thermometer, in the -30's F with two feet of fallen snow. The drifts were so
intense that I did not need a ladder to walk up to the roof to remove ice dams
(yes it was that kind of house) with an axe and shovel. The later floods (Feb,
I think) took out our driveway to the tune of an 18-inch channel twelve inches
wide-- thank goodness for road graders with whom you have developed a
