The current contract is a renewal of our PIE program that has been conducted by Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute (PCEI) for the past 3 years. The current scope of work has been modified to enhance our conservation efforts. We have added additional school visits and booth events. We have removed the evening forms because they were poorly attended. We have reduced the number of new lesson plans to be developed because we believe the current number of lesson plans is adequate. In the previous year, PCEI has been successful in producing newsletters, maintaining a presence in the local schools, and developing a comprehensive K-12 water conservation curriculum aligned with state and district standards. The Public Works/Finance Committee has, on two previous occasions this year, discussed water conservation efforts by the city.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>As part of those discussions the option of modifying the Water Conservation ordinance has been identified as a means of furthering the city’s efforts to reduce water consumption.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The main intent of the changes is to prohibit outdoor irrigation during the non-irrigation periods of the year and to provide some flexibility regarding the starting and ending dates for the outdoor irrigation season.</FONT></SPAN></SPAN></SPAN></SPAN></P>
