explore the ecology of the Palouse landscape, MaryJanesFarm will sponsor a
leisurely hiking tour on Saturday, June 23, led by Richard Old, Ph.D. The hiking
tour will begin at MaryJanesFarm, the home and business headquarters of organic
pioneer MaryJane Butters, 8 miles southeast of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"
/><st1:City><st1:place>Moscow</st1:place></st1:City>, and wander to adjacent
Paradise Ridge. </FONT></P>

style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto"><FONT
face="Times New Roman" size=3>Old is a fifth generation resident of the area,
the acknowledged expert on the flora of the Palouse and surrounding plant
communities, and has been leading field classes in this region for over 30
years. </FONT></P>

face="Times New Roman" size=3>This guided hike is the first ecology field trip
sponsored by MaryJanesFarm.</FONT></P>

face="Times New Roman" size=3>The hike, which is limited to ten participants,
will begin at <st1:time Minute="0" Hour="10">10am</st1:time> and end in the
mid-afternoon. A picnic lunch, catered by MaryJanesFarm, is
included. The total cost is only $50 per person. Participants must
wear good hiking boots and expect to walk over uneven ground and on some steep
slopes.</FONT></P>
