<DIV>Mike,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I certainly would not attempt to make sense of what happened. I don't think insanity has any rationality to it. I see people die and suffer almost on a daily basis, I don't think there is a meaning or reason behind it. I just think it is. Perhaps, how we treat people that are old, suffering, disabled, dying, or dealing with an unjust hand dealt to them is how we are judged. Most people that cry, cry to make themselves feel better, it doesn't do anything for those that have been hurt or need help. That is why I try to do something instead of cry. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't find this tragedy any worse than the tragedy of Latah voting away the only place in our county for the elderly and disabled without private health care. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Perhaps, if Moscow cared more about its elderly, disabled, sick, and those in need, I think it
would do a better job of treating those like this ill man. However, I don't see that happening. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The question isn't if we all feel bad and want to cry about what happened. The question is what we will do to prevent and treat illness of our community? My bet will be that nothing will be done because it is the easiest thing to do. What I would do is;</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Open a free mental health clinic and advertise it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Better fund and expand the Crisis Center and Suicide Hotline</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Open a Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living center for the poor that need those services</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Open affordable decent housing, no more than 1/3 of a person's net income. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Open a Vocational Training Center to educate high school students and adults with a skill to make a living and bring
industry to the county for a tax base for the things we need. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That is what I would do, but isn't gonna happen. Instead, nothing will happen and we will watch Latah shrink in size while the rest of Idaho doubles its prosperity. The greatest tragedy of all is that Moscow does not use its superior intellect and advanced education for anything constructive. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Best,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Donovan </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><BR><BR><B><I>Mike Deleve <coolerfixer@adelphia.net></I></B> wrote:</DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE class=replbq style="PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: #1010ff 2px solid"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16441" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> <DIV>In tossing the attack (for lack of a better term) around in my mind for days now, a Steely Dan song popped up from my memory and has helped me come to terms (a little) with the
