<DIV>Rev. Keely,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I noticed you had to write a three chapter book to justify the profiteering off of slave labor. What did it say, in brief summary?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> WWJD? Would Jesus take money he considered to be off of slave labor? Or would he turn it down?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just because somebody did public service in the USA, doesn't justify their right to wrong others that are less fortunate then they are by financing their slave labor. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Liberals in this community say NO to those that are poor and trying to buy something at SuperWalMart, but they themselves are making money off the SuperWalmart. To me, this is hypocritical, to say the least. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Best,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Donovan</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><BR><BR><B><I>keely emerinemix <kjajmix1@msn.com></I></B> wrote:</DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE class=replbq

It's the tortured lack thereof that might cause difficulty. <BR><BR>Receiving hard-earned retirement benefits from a system paid into over the course of one's employment is not "owning stock," Donovan. Moscow has benefited enormously from the work of Sue and other public employees; I hardly think that we'd all be better off if they decided to work at Howard Hughes instead so as to steer clear of the evil that is PERSI. <BR><BR>Further, the merging of moral and economic decisions is not as easy as you pretend, although perhaps it is easier for some than for others. I generally choose not to shop at Wal-Mart for the things I need. I'm not of the "death
before cheap plastic crap" persuasion, but I am grateful that I have the choice to shop elsewhere. I'd rather buy my books at Bookpeople, for example, than at Hastings, and I'd rather buy my T-shirts from Tri-State than from Wal-Mart. Sometimes, though, there is a greater benefit to shopping at Wal-Mart. <BR><BR>For example, my friend Ellen is quite ill with cancer and her long-term prognosis is not good. Her daughter sent her pictures of her grandchildren on disk; Ellen was thrilled and asked me to take her to Wal-Mart to get them developed. Ellen has no transportation, little money, and not much of a future. Would you prefer that I lecture her on the other locally-owned and chain picture-developing options that abound? Lecture her and then take her? Refuse to take her? Or shut the hell up and make an afternoon of it?<BR><BR>I'll let you guess, but I'll also tell you that we ate trans-fats for lunch, because Ellen loves
french fries. I'm generally opposed to junk food, Donovan, but I'm terribly fond of Ellen. If Ellen wants to eat french fries, then I will join her in a celebration of tubers and trans-fats, straight from the fryer if it makes her more comfortable. <BR><BR>I've never once said that you or anyone else can't shop at Wal-Mart, and I don't know anyone who has acted to shut their Moscow store down. An inability to make distinctions in argument and in ethics is an indication of someone who lacks the capacity to engage in reasoned debate but hopes that it won't be noticed if he shouts loudly enough.<BR><BR>keely<BR><BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2007 18:49:56 -0700<BR>From: donovanjarnold2005@yahoo.com<BR>To: suehovey@moscow.com; vision2020@moscow.com<BR>Subject: Re: [Vision2020] Moscow's Leading Liberals Own Stock in Wal-Mart<BR><BR> <DIV>Sue,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Perhaps my last post was so long you could

If liberals stopped giving money to PERSI, they would stop investing in Wal-Mart. Pretty simple concept. If liberals stopped investing in PERSI for that reason, their handlers would for obvious economic reasons, would stop investing in Wal-Mart. It is called free market economics, and it works better than protests and lobbying. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3rd Point. I am, for the proper treatment of the elderly, not for some people to have the right to do wrong simply because they reach a certain age, as you seem to be advocating.
</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4th Point. I would not advocate for euthanasia as you are stating. That is called suicide, it is a selfish act that goes against everything I believe. I would suggest a significant effort on your part to lobby the president or our policy makers from Idaho (you are more likely to have elected them than I.) Maybe a policy change that would allow the government to negotiate with drug companies for Medicare recipients, or a law which would allow us to die with dignity at a time of our choice, should we be incurably ill.
