<DIV>Ellen, thanks for your participation on the list. It is a deep seated</DIV>
<DIV>kindred loss some of us know about the city.</DIV>
<DIV>CJ’s proves up a self absorbed attitude every year and the beach is a slum</DIV>
<DIV>compared to David’s dept. store. They have no clue what your talking about.</DIV>
<DIV>Most all of main street businesses have changed and so the community</DIV>
<DIV>interacts with and views downtown differently. The new Moscow is sprawled,</DIV>
<DIV>the demographic changed and does not focus/interact with downtown as in days</DIV>
<DIV>past. My view in relation to your consideration is that we lost the day</DIV>
<DIV>scene for Mardi Gras and that can be rebuilt if people are interested. I</DIV>
<DIV>remember when Cope started it. It was small and not the grand design you</DIV>
<DIV>remember. It can be done again.</DIV>

<DIV>>I am not discussing any bottom line. . . . $$$$$$$$$$$$!</DIV>
<DIV>></DIV>
<DIV>>CJ's and The Beach have BOTH parted ways with any "Official" Mardi Gras</DIV>
<DIV>>"committee" and each of you "do your own thing" that night and do what you</DIV>
<DIV>>want with the proceeds. CJ's gives to the Humane Society. . . and I have</DIV>
<DIV>>already told you I think that is great. I have absolutely NO IDEA what Mr.</DIV>
<DIV>>Tassler does with the proceeds from his establishment. For all any of us</DIV>
<DIV>>know, maybe he gives a donation quietly and anonymously to the charity of</DIV>
<DIV>>his choice. . . only his CPA and the IRS know for sure.</DIV>
<DIV>></DIV>
<DIV>>But you have surely done your part to underscore my point about the current</DIV>

<DIV>>This weekend is the annual Moscow Mardi Gras celebration. It's a time of</DIV>
<DIV>>year when this small college town takes a page out of New Orleans' book and</DIV>
<DIV>>holds various concerts and parties.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>In order to help make deciding what to do this weekend easier, The Argonaut</DIV>
<DIV>>has put together a small preview of what will be happening around Moscow.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>The Main Street parties:</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>Main Street will be where most of the action this weekend will be</DIV>
<DIV>>happening.</DIV>
<DIV>>Mingles, The Garden Lounge, John's Alley, The Alehouse, Moscow Moose Lodge,</DIV>
<DIV>>Moscow Eagles Lodge and Sandpiper's Lounge will all be featuring live</DIV>
<DIV>>music.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>Gary Welch, a manager at Mingles, said most of the musical acts will begin</DIV>
<DIV>>at 9 p.m. Saturday at any one of the respective locales. Welch also said</DIV>
<DIV>>people can buy a ticket early for $10 or at the door for $15. Tickets are</DIV>
<DIV>>available at Mingle's, The Garden Lounge, John's Alley, BookPeople, Safari</DIV>
<DIV>>Pearl and Ricoshay in Pullman.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>One ticket can be used to get into any of the concerts during the night and</DIV>
<DIV>>sales from the tickets will go to charity.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>"We are using the tickets to raise money for many of the youth</DIV>
<DIV>>organizations</DIV>
<DIV>>within the community," said Mardi Gras President Roger Crozier. "Last year</DIV>
<DIV>>we collected over $12,000 for groups like 4-H and Boy Scouts."</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>Bands include:</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>John's Alley - Flowmotion</DIV>
<DIV>>The Garden Lounge - The Douglas Cameron Band Mingles of Moscow - The</DIV>
<DIV>>Fabulous Kingpins The Alehouse - Chubs Toga The Moscow Moose Lodge - Bare</DIV>
<DIV>>Wires The Moscow Eagles Club - Citizen Sandpiper's Lounge - Fat Tones</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>KRFP Celebration</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>Another Mardi Gras event is the KRFP, Radio Free Moscow fundraising dinner.</DIV>
<DIV>>Lee Robartes, the station manager at KRFP, said that the station is holding</DIV>
<DIV>>a jambalaya dinner to raise money for the station.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>"We have where people can pay $5 and just enjoy the music," he said. "Or</DIV>
<DIV>>for</DIV>
<DIV>>$20, they can eat jambalaya, enjoy either alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks</DIV>
<DIV>>and enjoy some great music."</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>Robartes also said there will be a silent auction and music will be</DIV>
<DIV>>provided</DIV>
<DIV>>by Snake River Six.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>The event starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church</DIV>
<DIV>>on 420 E. Second St.</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>Finn Riggins, () Benefit Concert</DIV>
<DIV>> </DIV>
<DIV>>The band Finn Riggins, () will be putting on a benefit concert for Friends</DIV>
<DIV>>of the Clearwater with doors opening at 7 p.m. Friday at the 1912 Building.</DIV>
<DIV>>Admission for the event is $10 and beer will be for sale for anyone who is</DIV>
<DIV>>of age.</DIV>

<DIV>>University of Idaho Latin Dance Club Ballroom Dance Extravaganza</DIV>

<DIV>>For people who aren't into the hard party scene, the UI Latin Dance Club</DIV>
<DIV>>will be hosting a Ballroom Dance Extravaganza.</DIV>
