<div>The problem is it has gone through -unless the Legislature should
choose to overturn the decision of Fish and Game. Given the
legislative history on wolves and the governor's position,
that's unlikely. It will become a comment point I'm sure in the
federal record of decision to delist, but again, that's where the
state's rights argument raises it's head.</div>

I agree, it would be a bad way to make public policy. However, the
fact that a fishing license costs around $20, a elk tag costs around
$30, a deer tag around 20,etc etc,a Moose tag being a once in a
lifetime tag, makes me believe that this small fee for a wolf(pop
500-1200) will not go threw.<br>

Never underestimate the 10th amendment state's rights argument,
especially when the former governor is now the fed making the
decision. The only reason it may not fly is that other branch of
government: the courts. Bad way to make public policy.<br>

Fish and Game's setting of the wolf tag at $26.50 says more about the
"management" intentions than anything Butch said. That's the
same price as other predator tags (black bear, cougar). No limit
amount on # of tags in the proposal. My read: treat wolves as nuisance
varmints and hope that maybe enough wolves will be killed in an
essentially unmanaged hunt to take out the population. Then say oops,
we really did mean to keep ten breeding packs as we said we would but
we never expected such a hunting success rate. wink wink.<br>

as I know Mr. Otter is talking about a hunting permit, and I would
assume one that is like the Moose tag in Idaho, once in a lifetime.
Even if it is not a lifetime tag Im sure that the F&G will not
allow too many tags to be filled. I doubt that hunting wolves can be
compaired to hunting coyotes. Thats my take on it at least.<br>

extermination of predators and support the reintroduction of wolves.
