<DIV>J, et al,</DIV>

<DIV>In general, wolves are quite a bit bigger than coyotes. Coyotes have
relatively small paws for their body size while wolves have large paws.
Some wolves are very dark in color also. There are other ways to tell them
apart if one gets closer.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Our last wolf sighting (and photographs) were of a large black wolf at the
edge of the fourth summit lake on a return day hike from Jacques
Lake to Medicine Lake in Jasper Park. This photo was taken in July
2005.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>A photo (not of great quality) of this moment can be found at <A
href="http://users.moscow.com/waf/V%202020/Black%20Wolf%20Canadian%20Rockies%202005%20215.jpg">http://users.moscow.com/waf/V%202020/Black%20Wolf%20Canadian%20Rockies%202005%20215.jpg</A></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Many years ago before the present controversy and even before the
re-introduction of wolves, several people, including myself, saw two wolves
running together near the locust trees one day on Weather Hill of Moscow
Mountain. A neighbor also saw a wolverine around this area a few weeks
later.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>As a side note referring to my precious post, wolverines and badgers also
prey upon pets. Both can successfully take a dog much larger than
themselves, not to mention a house or barn cat of any size.</DIV>

a pet to a wolf. Owls, hawks, and eagles have taken <BR>>>a number
of cats and small dogs. In two cases a cougar got a dog that was
<BR>>>running loose. Coyotes have also preyed upon pets mostly by a

or a single coyote <BR>>>occasionally snatching a small dog or cat.
