Paletas, thats what they were called! I couldn't remember, my Spanish has gone to hades in a hand basket.

In high school, a football game wasn't complete unless you had a saladito stuffed into half a lemon to soften it.

I'm curious, did your parents ever watch a show on KUAT called "Fiesta"?

One thing I left out, I once appeared on a talent show on TV in Mexico. My sitter's daughter, Judy, played accordian and I sang. Gheez, I must have been only 6 or 7 years old at the time.

I don't remember much about it, just that it was really hot and there was a lot of people.

I went to many a quinceanera, including my best friend's sister's. I think their parents were really hoping that Blanca and I would "click", it seemed they always putting us together for one reason or another.

While you were getting trouble before confirmation, I was tormenting Sister Elizabeth at Sacred Heart School. I had to serve a lot of masses to avoid Purgatory, which is where I was going to spend a LOT of time according to the good sister.

Of course that was long before girls were allowed at the altar. Anyone who's spent 20 minutes kneeling on the cold, hard, marble step of an altar, while the world's slowest priest drones on and on knows what Purgatory is.

As I recall, the meat from the bullfights went to the poor. So at least it was being used for a decent cause, if true.

I'd say other than a few political issues, we aren't so different, Keeley.
