Keely,

I'm sure Brady put in a hell of a lot of time, and as a matter of fact, he wasn't in a crowd of people when I met him.

It was at the One World Cafe, where one of my writers, Steve McGehee, was interviewing him.

I have a great deal of respect for both Shirley Ringo and Tom Trail, I know where both stand on many issues. And both have ALWAYS been able to look me straight in the eye and give a firm, self confident handshake.

As for Otter, I covered his "town hall" meeting and had the chance to observe him beforehand. He went around the room beforehand, trying to greet everyone who came in.

During the meeting, he treated everyone, including those who disagreed with him with respect.

And yes, he has a frim handshake, and will look you straight in the eye.

I don't care if a candidate's platform matches my views step for step, if I don't think that candidate can be a leader, I will not vote for him/her.

Leaders have to project an air of confidence, whether in a crowd or one on one. If they can't do that, how will they project themselves in the crowd of self confident, type A personalites they will run into at the state or national level?

The other thing that needs to be remembered is that candidates are, in essence, interviewing for a job. We are their employers. As with other job seekers, first impressions are important. Would you hire someone that didn't project the ability to do the job? I wouldn't.

And just for you Keely, I do not belong to any partyand I've never voted a straight ticket in my life.

Such is the life of an independent: too conservative for liberals, too liberal for conservatives.

I'm sure that Jerry Brady put in some 18-hour days,
>meeting and speaking with literally thousands of people. Unless you
>had a private audience with him, I imagine he was swept up in a
>crowd of people and, understandably, was unable to grant special
>"face time" and hand-shaking gentlemanly sincerity to you and
the
>scores of other people around him. It's hard to believe that a man
>who is willing to be scrutinized, tested, tossed and battered for a
>grueling campaign against pretty overwhelming odds would be judged
>by one person's single experience with him. If that's what people's
>votes are based on, then I ought to take back mine from Shirley
>Ringo -- last time I saw her, I really needed a hug and didn't get
>one.
>
>Of course, I proudly voted for Shirley and contributed to her
>campaign. And as someone who's been told she shakes hands "like a
>guy" -- whatever that means -- I really value those straightforward
>indicators of engagement and sincerity. But it strikes me as more
>than a little odd that you would not only base your vote on a
>handshake,
but also that you would proudly proclaim such.
>
>keely
>
>
>From: "Kai Eiselein" <fotopro63@hotmail.com>
>To: vision2020@moscow.com
>Subject: [Vision2020] Why I didn't vote for Brady
>Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2007 07:25:42 +0000
>
>A limp handshake and the inability to look me in the eye.
>Both, to me, show a lack confidence.
