In the menagerie of mechanisms for our built environment, true architecture is
the least damaging and holds the greatest opportunity to produce

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Dear Matt:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Thank you for asking about Moscow's
Green Building Program. I see that Bill London already responded with a link
to the City's Web page, <A
href="http://www.ci.moscow.id.us/CommDev/GreenBuilding.asp">http://www.ci.moscow.id.us/CommDev/GreenBuilding.asp</A> That
site lists other links on the subject. (Please let me/us know if you
have any difficulty accessing that page.) To learn more, you may contact our
Building Department at 883-7022. Jim Johnson, Chief Building
Inspector oversees that program. As builders, developers, realtors and
the general public learn about the social and economic benefits of fostering
environmental well-being, Smart Growth will become the norm, rather than the
exception. (We'll likely come up with other, less overused terms for the
concept as we go along.) As the first City in Idaho to have a Green Building
Program, Moscow is trying to provide incentives and offer formal recognition
to builders and developers to grow the ethic of sustainability. Thank you
again for your interest!</FONT></DIV>
